LAHORE (Dunya News) - A new biometric verification system has been implemented in courts across Punjab in order to curb fake litigation and fraudulent bail practices.
The initiative aims to eliminate fake cases, bogus sureties, and the misuse of false identities within the judicial system.
The implementation of the biometric system began following the approval of Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum. According to the official notification, biometric verification has now been made mandatory for all parties involved in court proceedings.
Under the new system, petitioners, respondents, and sureties are required to undergo biometric verification through National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) before any legal application can be filed. Court authorities have clarified that no petition or application will be accepted without successful biometric authentication.
Officials stated that the primary objective of this system is to ensure transparency, strengthen the credibility of court proceedings, and completely eliminate the filing of fake cases and the use of fraudulent guarantees.
Lawyers’ organizations have welcomed the move, stating that biometric verification will enhance transparency in judicial proceedings and ensure the timely and accurate presence of genuine parties before the courts.
Legal circles have described this initiative as a major judicial reform, crediting the LHC chief justice for introducing a system that is expected to significantly improve efficiency, accountability, and public trust in the justice system.
