PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the decision to bring people from Afghanistan and resettle them was a serious mistake, adding that it is the main reason for the rise in terrorism in the country. He remarked that everyone knows who released hundreds of terrorists from Swat, and that voices are being raised against Pakistan in unison with its enemies.
Addressing participants at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Security Workshop, the prime minister said that KP has made unmatched sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He added that the government is taking practical steps to further improve law and order in the province and that the establishment of lasting peace in KP has become inevitable.
He said national security is the government’s top priority, and a comprehensive strategy is being adopted to deal with internal and external security challenges. He praised the sacrifices of security forces in the fight against terrorism.
The prime minister emphasized that the state is fully determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from its roots and that unity is essential to confront this threat.
The premier also said that if Punjab develops while other provinces do not, it cannot be called Pakistan’s progress. The country will only move forward when all provinces develop together. He stated that Punjab has given Rs100 billion from its own share to Balochistan, the federal government is funding the construction of a major road in the province, and Rs40 billion has been provided for solar tube wells in Balochistan.
