ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s information technology (IT) sector delivered a remarkable performance in December 2025, setting a new export record and underscoring the sector’s growing role in strengthening the national economy.

According to official data, IT exports exceeded $437 million in December 2025, reflecting a 23 percent increase on a month-on-month basis. This marks a significant improvement compared to $356 million recorded in the previous month.

On a year-on-year basis, IT exports posted an impressive 26 percent growth, highlighting sustained momentum and rising global demand for Pakistan’s IT services. Analysts viewthis performance as a positive indicator for economic stability and foreign exchange inflows.

During the first half of the current fiscal year, Pakistan’s IT exports reached $2.24 billion, registering a 20 percent increase year-on-year. This steady growth demonstrates the sector’s resilience and expanding international footprint.

The IT sector has been designated as a priority area under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). In collaboration with the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, SIFC has been accelerating reforms and policy initiatives aimed at boosting exports, attracting foreign investment, and enhancing digital infrastructure.

Recently, at the ITCN Asia exhibition, memorandums of understanding worth $750 million were signed for international investment in the IT and telecom sectors. These developments reflect the government’s supportive policies, effective coordination among institutions, and a strong commitment to positioning Pakistan as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
