KARACHI (Dunya News): The tragic fire incident at Karachi’s Gul Plaza has deeply shaken not only the city but the entire country, prompting strong reactions from showbiz industry.

Several celebrities expressed profound grief over the loss of precious lives, offered prayers for the victims, and demanded accountability along with stricter safety measures to prevent such disasters in the future.

Actress Hania Aamir termed the incident devastating, stating that valuable lives were lost that should never have been endangered. She said the tragedy was not merely an accident but a painful reminder of negligence, lack of safety protocols, and collective silence, the cost of which is paid by ordinary people with their futures. While offering condolences to the affected families, she stressed that sympathy must be accompanied by accountability.

Actress Sajal Aly also expressed deep sorrow, saying her heart was broken by the tragedy at Gul Plaza and that words were insufficient to describe such a loss. She extended her prayers to the families who lost their loved ones.

Actress and singer Samar Jafri, actress Zhalay Sarhadi, and comedian Ali Gul Pir prayed for the departed souls and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

Rapper Eva B and actress Minal Khan recalled their personal memories associated with Gul Plaza and shared their grief. Criticising the overall situation of Karachi, Minal Khan said that despite being the country’s economic hub, the city continues to be neglected like an orphan, neither fully owned by the province nor properly cared for by the federal government.

Actress Yashma Gill and filmmaker Adnan Malik strongly criticised the lack of fire safety arrangements and oversight in commercial buildings. Adnan Malik revealed that he had visited Gul Plaza a month earlier and found the building’s design congested and potentially dangerous.

Renowned host Anoushey Ashraf drew a stark comparison between the tragedy and lavish wedding celebrations held near the corridors of power in Lahore, saying that while festivities continue, Karachi’s citizens are left to face pain, helplessness, and loss.

Actress Saboor Aly also reacted to the tragedy, praying for Allah’s mercy and stating that the grief is beyond words.
