Cricketer Haris Rauf criticises government over Gul Plaza tragedy, calling it a systemic failure, as death toll reaches 14 and dozens remain missing after delayed rescue efforts.

PAKISTAN (Web Desk) - National cricket team fast bowler Haris Rauf has strongly criticised the government over the tragic Gul Plaza incident, calling it a collective failure of the system meant to protect human lives.

In a message shared on social media, Rauf said the tragedy exposed how institutions responsible for public safety had completely failed. He pointed out poor fire safety arrangements, delayed rescue operations, and an ineffective response strategy as key reasons that worsened the disaster.

He said the cost of this negligence was devastating, with precious lives lost, families shattered, and countless dreams left unfulfilled. Rauf added that the sense of helplessness following the tragedy is deeply painful.

Raising tough questions, he asked how long such carelessness would be tolerated and how many more lives must be sacrificed before meaningful action is taken. He said this was not just an accident, but a warning demanding accountability.

Rauf noted that public anger is justified and the grief is beyond words.

It is worth mentioning that the fire at Gul Plaza was brought under control after nearly 36 hours. At least 14 people have died, while 54 are still reported missing.
