Schools reopen across Punjab after winter break

Punjab schools reopen today after a 30-day winter break. New timings: 8:30 am to 1:30 pm (Mon-Thurs) and 8:30 am to 12:15 pm (Fri). Teachers must attend CPD sessions for professional growth

LAHORE (Dunya News) – All public and private educational institutions across Punjab have reopened today following the winter break.

The winter holidays, which began on December 20, provided students with a total of 30 days off.

According to the Education Department, academic activities have now resumed after the winter holidays.

A formal notification has also been issued outlining the new school timings for government schools across the province. As per the schedule, schools will reopen at 8:30 am and close at 1:30 pm from Monday to Thursday and at 12:15 pm on Fridays.

These revised timings will remain in effect from January 19 to April 15, 2026.

Additionally, the Education Department clarified that teachers are required to attend Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions and curricular preparation from Monday to Thursday, as part of efforts to enhance educational standards across the province.
