Islamabad court orders arrest of Imaan Mazari, Hadi Ali within 24 hours

A district court has ordered authorities to arrest Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha within 24 hours for skipping a hearing in their controversial tweets case, warning of contempt charges if ignored

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A district and session court has ordered authorities to arrest Imaan Mazar and her husband Hadi Ali Chatha, and produce before it within 24 hours after they skipping hearing in controversial tweets case.

During the hearing, Islamabad Police DIG Javed Tariq appeared before the court, where Judge Afzal Majoka inquired about the failure to execute the arrest warrants.

The judge remarked that the authorities should take action regardless of the suspects' location, whether they are in Pakistan, India, or Afghanistan. The judge gave a strict order for the warrants to be executed, adding that if they were not, contempt of court proceedings would be initiated.

The DIG assured the court that the warrants would be implemented. The court then announced a break, warning that failure to comply with the orders could result in contempt charges.

Earlier, at the start of the hearing, the court summoned the DIG and the Director of the FIA to explain why Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha were not presented in court.

Judge Majoka inquired about their whereabouts and criticized the police for not complying with the arrest orders.

The court took strict note of the situation and summoned the DIG Operations and FIA Director to appear in person.

Later, the sessions court gave 24 hours to authorities to arrest Mazari and her husband in the case.
