KP government announces auction of fancy number plates named after top political leaders, with bidding starting at Rs1 million to boost provincial revenue.

PESHAWAR (Web Desk)  – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially announced the auction of special vehicle number plates bearing the names of President Asif Ali Zardari, former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan.

According to a private TV channel, the provincial government has decided to auction fancy and unique choice number plates named after prominent political and national figures. The move is being seen as a new way to raise funds while giving car owners something out of the ordinary.

Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Fakhr Jahan said the auction will be held on January 27 at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar. He added that bidding for fancy and unique number plates will start from Rs1 million, and the highest bidder will get the number plate carrying the name of their preferred political or national personality.

He said the initiative does not stop here, as more names of national leaders, well-known personalities, regions and communities will be added in phases. According to him, vehicle owners are showing keen interest, and the auction is expected to bring a healthy boost to the national exchequer.

The Excise Department said citizens are submitting applications through the Dastak app to take part in the auction. The deadline for submitting applications is January 26, 2026.
