FBR moves to curb smuggling with plan to establish digital enforcement stations

Sources further revealed that the FBR has sought Rs10 billion for the establishment of these Digital Enforcement Stations.

ISLAMABAD (Mudassar Ali Rana) – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to establish Digital Enforcement Stations to curb smuggling and illegal trade.

According to FBR sources, the Digital Enforcement Stations will be granted full authority to prevent smuggling and unlawful commercial activities, and individuals involved in illegal trade and smuggling will be apprehended.

Sources further revealed that the FBR has sought Rs10 billion for the establishment of these Digital Enforcement Stations. The initiative is expected to significantly help in preventing smuggling and illegal trade, while existing check posts will also be converted into digital enforcement stations.

Rules, operational procedures and the use of modern technology will be introduced for the staff of the Digital Enforcement Stations. Retired officers and soldiers from the armed forces will be hired on a contract basis to fill vacant positions.
