WASHINGTON (Web Desk) - US President Donald Trump has declared himself as the interim president of Venezuela.

President Trump shared an image on his social media platform, Truth Social, in which he presented himself as the “interim president of Venezuela.”

According to the post, he has been serving as the South American country’s interim president since January 2026, while JD Vance was also described as the interim vice president of Venezuela.

It is noteworthy that the United States carried out a military operation in Venezuela on January 3, during which Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife were arrested and later produced before a US court.

Protesters rally in Italy, Greece against US military operation in Venezuela

Earlier, thousands of demonstrators rallied in Italy and Greece to protest against US military intervention in Venezuela, with protesters in Rome, Milan and Athens condemning Washington's actions and calling for respect for Venezuelan sovereignty.

In Rome, more than 1,000 demonstrators marched toward the area near the US Embassy, calling on Washington to immediately release Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

Police blocked roads around the embassy to prevent protesters from approaching the building, but demonstrators continued to denounce US actions.

"First of all, we oppose US imperialist aggression. This kind of behavior is shameful. The US is attacking a sovereign country, and as [US President Donald] Trump himself has said, this is for oil interests," said protester Giovanni Barbera.
