KARACHI (Dunya News) - Karachi witnessed a significant rise in traffic accidents, crimes and other fatal mishaps in 2025, according to statistics released by the city’s rescue authorities.
According to 2025 data, 830 people lost their lives in traffic accidents, including 650 men, 85 women, 73 boys, and 22 girls. Additionally, 11,837 citizens were injured in road mishaps across the metropolis.
Year 2025 also witnessed a surge in violent incidents across the city. A total of 89 citizens were killed resisting robberies, while 14 were murdered during assaults and 35 sustained injuries, according to statistics.
Shooting incidents claimed 407 lives, comprising 352 men, 33 women, 14 boys, and 8 girls, while 1,632 individuals were injured in various gunfire cases. Knife attacks led to 43 fatalities, and 21 bodies of brutally attacked individuals were recovered from different areas, official data revealed.
Other accidents included 11 deaths from gas cylinder explosions, 73 fatalities due to falls from rooftops, 51 deaths in train collisions, and 83 drowning incidents. Additionally, 21 people died in fire-related incidents and 128 were injured. Electrical accidents caused 131 deaths, while 25 individuals died falling into open drains and sewers. Suicide cases accounted for 119 deaths, and 33 newborns’ bodies were recovered from various locations in the city.
The alarming figures underscore the urgent need for enhanced traffic management, stricter law enforcement, and improved public safety measures to curb the rising toll of accidents, crimes, and avoidable fatalities in Karachi.
