CM Maryam Nawaz meets Mauritius High Commissioner, vows to strengthen economic ties

The chief minister warmly welcomed the Mauritian envoy and discussed ways to enhance business-to-business linkages.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday met the High Commissioner of the Republic of Mauritius, Mansoo Krombaks, and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two sides.

During the meeting, the chief minister warmly welcomed the Mauritian envoy and discussed ways to enhance business-to-business linkages, promote the exchange of trade delegations, and organise joint trade exhibitions to boost commercial engagement.

Maryam Nawaz emphasised the importance of expanding cooperation beyond trade, agreeing to deepen collaboration in key sectors including education, tourism, agriculture, and people-to-people exchanges. She stated that Punjab was keen to build long-term partnerships that deliver mutual economic benefits.

Both sides also agreed to increase cooperation in halal food production, technology, and human resource development. The chief minister expressed Punjab’s readiness to extend full support for investment opportunities in the blue economy, highlighting the sector’s growing global significance.

Maryam Nawaz further said that Punjab was determined to enhance exports of rice, textiles, and pharmaceutical products to Mauritius, noting that these sectors hold strong potential for growth in bilateral trade.

She also appreciated High Commissioner Mansoo Krombaks for his efforts in promoting youth development initiatives and his sustained work against drug abuse, terming such efforts vital for regional stability and social development.
