IHC approves early hearing plea in defamation case over Shaukat Khanum Hospital allegations

The court directed that the case be fixed in the second week after the winter vacations.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has approved the founder of PTI’s request for an early hearing against the sessions court verdict related to allegations made by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif about Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar heard the miscellaneous application seeking an early hearing. The petitioner’s lawyer, Umar Ziauddin Advocate, appeared before the court.

The court directed that the case be fixed in the second week after the winter vacations.

It is worth recalling that Khawaja Asif, during a press conference, had alleged money laundering and misuse of funds collected for Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

The founder of PTI has filed a defamation suit against Khawaja Asif since 2012, seeking damages of Rs 10 billion.

Subsequently, the court directed that the main case be scheduled after the judicial holidays and adjourned the hearing.
