PKF seeks strict action as Pakistani player plays for India, waves Indian flag

Rana Sarwar said that a national player playing for the Indian team and waving its flag is unacceptable.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The General Council of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation has convened an emergency meeting over the issue of Pakistani kabaddi player Ubaidullah Rajput playing for the Indian team, wearing its jersey, and waving the Indian flag.

Federation Secretary Rana Sarwar said that Chairman Chaudhry Shafay Hussain has called the meeting on December 27. He stated that 16 Pakistani players participated in a tournament held in Bahrain, but it was not Pakistan’s national team. No permission was sought, nor were NOCs issued to the players.

The federation secretary said it was a self-styled team that used Pakistan’s name. Neither government approval was obtained nor was the federation informed about participation in the event.

Rana Sarwar said that a national player playing for the Indian team and waving its flag is unacceptable. The matter will be investigated and strict action will be taken. Action will also be taken against self-styled promoters, and no one will be allowed to organize illegal events.

He further said that Pakistan’s name will not be allowed to be tarnished under any circumstances. While players from different countries often play together at the club level, playing for a foreign team and waving its flag is deeply regrettable.
