LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has directed an immediate reduction in transport fares following a significant drop in diesel prices.
Officials have been instructed to issue updated fare lists and establish monitoring teams in all districts to ensure compliance with the new rates.
The minister emphasized strict action against transporters charging higher fares than approved and directed all Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) to submit reports confirming the implementation of fare reductions.
Additionally, authorities have been ordered to ensure that any excess amounts collected from passengers are refunded promptly.
Bilal Akbar Khan highlighted that the government is committed to passing the benefits of lower diesel prices directly to the public. He warned that no leniency will be shown toward transporters who continue to overcharge passengers despite the revised fares.
