CPPA has requested NEPRA to reduce electricity tariff by 72 paisa per unit for November's fuel adjustment. NEPRA will review the petition on December 31, potentially benefiting consumers.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed a petition with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for a decrease in the electricity tariff under the monthly fuel adjustment for November.

If approved, the tariff could be reduced by 72 paisa per unit. NEPRA is scheduled to hear the petition on December 31.

CPPA said a total of 7.81 billion units of electricity were provided to the distribution companies (DISCOs) in November. The cost of electricity per unit in November was reported to be Rs6.16.

The electricity generation in November was sourced from various resources. Hydropower accounted for 39.16 percent of the production, local coal contributed 9.34pc, imported coal provided 5.06pc, natural gas contributed 8.44pc, imported LNG made up 8.64pc, and nuclear fuel contributed 25.23pc of the total electricity generation.

If NEPRA approves the request, electricity consumers in Pakistan can expect a reduction of 72 paisa per unit.
