ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Musadik Malik on Tuesday said that national interest must remain the foremost priority adding that national interest must take precedence over politics.

Musadik said that Pakistan should always come first, adding that political differences and electoral processes would continue, but national interest must remain constant and unquestioned. "Politics was a continuous process while all other matters were secondary to Pakistan," he stressed.

Senator Musadik Malik said the May 9 incidents were on the credit of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He said investigations had been conducted, crimes had been established and trials were underway. He termed the May 9 incidents a stain on PTI’s politics.

He said PTI did not represent a political approach, adding that the party believed only in confrontation and division rather than dialogue and consensus. The minister said there was a need to lower political intensity and adopt a softer tone in political discourse.

He emphasized that political de-polarization was essential for stability and governance, adding that political dialogue was the only way to address both political and national issues. He said that the party should adopt a democratic struggle instead of confrontation.
