MUMBAI (Dunya News) – Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has made history by becoming the most expensive overseas player in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.

During the IPL 2026 player auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured Green after a fierce bidding battle with Chennai Super Kings. KKR finally acquired him for INR25.2 crore, setting a new record for the highest price paid for an international player.

Previously, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc held the record, having been bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024 for INR24.75 crore. Green has previously represented Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.

It is important to note that the overall record for the most expensive player in IPL history still belongs to India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for INR27 crore in the previous season.

The upcoming IPL 2026 season is scheduled to take place from 26 March to 31 May.
