ABBOTTABAD (Dunya News)— Important revelations have surfaced in the case of Dr. Wardah, who was kidnapped from the DHQ Hospital and later murdered.
According to DPO Haroon Rasheed, Dr. Wardah Mushtaq was killed just one hour after being abducted. Both vehicles used in the crime have been taken into custody.
Sources say that the lady doctor was worried about the 67 tolas of gold she possessed as she was preparing to travel abroad. The accused woman, Rida, convinced Dr. Wardah to entrust the 67 tolas of gold to her for safekeeping. Rida had already mortgaged the doctor’s gold and obtained 5 million rupees against it.
According to Dunya News, a decision has been made to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for the murder case of the lady doctor. With the approval of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a letter has been sent to the Chief Secretary.
It has been proposed that the JIT be headed by a senior civil officer of the provincial government, with the inclusion of CTD, Special Branch, Police, and Prosecution representatives.
Meanwhile, the arrested accused in Dr. Wardah Mushtaq’s murder case, her friend Rida, Rida’s husband Naveed, and two others, Nadeem and Pervaiz, were presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court in Abbottabad yesterday. The court handed them over to the police on a three-day physical remand. The main accused, Shamraiz, is still at large.
On the other hand, doctors and paramedical staff at Ayub Medical Complex continue their strike in protest against the murder of the lady doctor. During the protest, demonstrators blocked both sides of the Karakoram Highway (Shahrah-e-Resham).
According to media reports, Dr. Wardah was kidnapped on December 4 from just outside the hospital, and her body was discovered four days later in the Lari Banota locality.
The accused first took Dr. Wardah to an under-construction house in Jinnahbad, where the woman was strangled to death, and her body was later buried near Thandiani.
According to the initial post-mortem report, she was killed by strangulation. Marks around her neck indicate the use of a rope or cloth, which also caused her neck bone to break. The report states that signs of torture were also present on her body.
Dr. Wardah leaves behind two young children and a husband. Her husband works in Korea.
