PML-N leader Abid Sher Ali has been elected unopposed as a senator on the vacant seat of late Senator Irfan Siddiqui after other candidates withdrew their nomination papers

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) candidate Abid Sher Ali has been elected unopposed as a senator on the vacant seat of late Senator Irfan Siddiqui.

The scrutiny process for nomination papers in the by-election has been completed. A total of three candidates — Abid Sher Ali, Ahsan Afzal Khan, and Abdul Jabbar — had submitted their nomination papers. However, Ahsan Afzal Khan and Abdul Jabbar later withdrew from the race.

After the withdrawals, Abid Sher Ali remained the sole candidate, paving the way for his unopposed election to the Senate. The seat fell vacant following the demise of Senator Irfan Siddiqui.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Abid Sher Ali on his success and extended his best wishes for the future.

In his congratulatory message, the prime minister said that, by the grace of Allah, Pakistan Muslim League (N) was winning battles on all fronts due to its track record of public service.

He described Abid Sher Ali as a committed party worker who made a name for himself through public service in previous tenures.

Shehbaz Sharif further said that Abid Sher Ali would play a constructive role in national development and public welfare as a senator, working under the experienced leadership of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.
