PESHAWAR (Shehzad Fahad) – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported a sharp increase in attacks on police personnel during 2025, with 510 incidents recorded across the province.
According to the latest CTD statistics, the number of attacks on police has risen significantly compared to last year, when 327 incidents were reported. Officials said that 25 high-value terrorists, carrying government-announced bounties, were also arrested during various operations this year.
The CTD further revealed that intelligence-based operations also expanded during 2025, showing a rise of around 3 percent. A total of 2,791 operations were conducted, compared to 2,703 operations last year.
CTD also revealed that arrests have also doubled during 2025. According to report, police arrested 744 suspects in 2024, while in 2025, 1,244 individuals were taken into custody. The report stated that counter-terrorism actions increased by 102 percent over the past five years.
While deadly attacks remain a critical concern, the overall number of terrorist incidents has witnessed slight variation. CTD officials noted that 147 terrorist attacks occurred last year, compared to 137 this year. Bomb blast cases dropped sharply from 277 to 108, while landmine explosions reduced from 420 to only 43.
The department also highlighted a 50 percent rise in registered terrorism cases. The number of FIRs climbed from 1,058 last year to 1,588 during the current year.
Police responded with force, conducting 320 counter-operations in reaction to 158 terrorist attacks. Officials said that operations will continue to ensure stability and protect law enforcement personnel across the province.
