MOSCOW (Shahid Ghumman) - NUST MISIS University in Moscow has reportedly informed around 25 Pakistani scholarship students that their visas will not be renewed and they must return to Pakistan.
The affected students visited the Pakistani Embassy yesterday and met Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and Deputy Head of Mission Giyan Chand. Embassy officials assured the students that the matter would be taken up with the relevant authorities and efforts would be made to resolve the difficulties they are facing in the visa renewal process.
The students expressed hope that with the embassy’s intervention, their issue would soon be resolved and they could continue their academic programmes.
One student told Dunya News that the university’s decision has caused significant distress. He said some of the affected students are seniors, while most arrived this year on scholarship. The university, he added, has so far avoided giving any explanation for its decision.
