(Web Desk) – England’s star batsman, Joe Root, has broken a nine-year-old record held by Pakistani player Asad Shafiq during the ongoing Ashes series in Brisbane.

In the first innings of the day-night Test match, England posted 334 runs against Australia, with Root contributing a brilliant 138.

His innings not only played a pivotal role in England’s total but also saw him achieve a major milestone.

Root’s 138 runs made him the player with the highest individual score in day-night Tests on Australian soil, surpassing Shafiq’s previous record of 137 runs, which was set in the 2016 day-night Test at the Gabba.

With this remarkable feat, Root has now etched his name in the record books, claiming the honor of being the highest run-scorer in a day-night Test in Australia.
