ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s statistics office has released its weekly inflation report, showing a 0.64 percent drop in prices compared to the previous week.
The overall annual inflation rate now stands at 4 percent.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, prices of 15 essential items fell, while 13 items saw an increase, and 23 items remained stable over the week.
Garlic became 1.86 percent more expensive, cooking oil rose by 1.54 percent, eggs by 0.81 percent, and ghee by 0.40 percent. Prices of bananas, flour, LPG, and cigarettes also inched up.
On the flip side, tomatoes saw a sharp drop of 30.11 percent, onions fell by 12.41 percent, and potatoes became 6.92 percent cheaper. Chicken prices went down by 4.46 percent, and sugar fell by 3.31 percent. Lentils, diesel, and petrol also became cheaper during the week.
The mixed trends show that while some items are hitting the roof, others are easing the burden on consumers, giving a sigh of relief to households across the country.
