Punjab to record all PERA operations on camera, orders CM Maryam Nawaz

Updated on:

CM Maryam Nawaz has ordered body cameras, electric vehicles and advanced training for Punjab’s PERA Force.

LAHORE (Web Desk) - All operations of the Punjab Enforcement & Regulatory Authority (PERA) in Punjab will now be recorded on camera.

In a special meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, officials briefed her on the performance, oversight, and reforms of the Force, after which several key decisions were made.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered the immediate installation of body cameras to enhance performance and transparency. She also approved the launch of special training sessions to further improve the force’s efficiency.

She stressed that while the law must be enforced at all costs, the behaviour of personnel should always remain correct, friendly, and respectful towards the public.

The Chief Minister also directed the introduction of electric vehicles for the Force to ensure faster, safer, and environmentally friendly public service.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif granted in-principle approval for establishing a state-of-the-art PERA Training Centre.

She said the PERA Force is performing well but must focus on results to earn public trust and goodwill. She reiterated that the law must be enforced firmly, but the attitude of officers must be compassionate. She added that history remembers those who serve and facilitate the public.

Punjab, she emphasised, has no space for bribery, misconduct, or false accusations.
