Pakistan speeds relief efforts as Sri Lanka reels from Datwa storm

Pakistan accelerates relief for Sri Lanka after Datwa storm, sending teams, aircraft, naval support and over 200 tons of aid under PM Shehbaz Sharif’s directives.

COLOMBO (Dunya News) - Pakistan has intensified humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka as the country faces widespread devastation caused by the Datwa storm.

Following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) continues accelerated relief operations for affected Sri Lankan communities.

NDMA dispatched an additional 20 tons of relief goods to Colombo via SriLankan Airlines from Lahore today. The consignment includes tarpaulins and dry milk.

Pakistan Army’s elite Search and Rescue Team is already on the ground in Sri Lanka, actively participating in relief operations.

A Pakistan Air Force C-130 aircraft carrying a 47-member relief team along with 6.5 tons of essential equipment has also arrived in Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, NDMA has sent 200 tons of relief supplies via a naval ship.

NDMA will continue sending further relief cargo through commercial flights, while Pakistan Navy ships and helicopters remain engaged in extensive humanitarian operations across affected regions.

Pakistan reiterated its resolve to continue all possible support for Sri Lankan disaster victims, calling the relief efforts a symbol of the deep friendship between the two nations and a commitment to regional solidarity.
