LAHORE (Dunya News) - Thick fog continued to blanket several cities across Punjab on Thursday, severely affecting visibility and disrupting travel on major routes.

According to Motorway Police, the M-5 Motorway was closed from Uch Sharif to Zahir Pir due to extremely low visibility. Fog also reduced visibility on various national highways, making driving conditions hazardous. Officials advised motorists to use fog lights, drive slowly, and avoid unnecessary travel.

Alongside the fog, smog and air pollution levels remained dangerously high across many regions. Gujranwala recorded an alarming Air Quality Index (AQI) of 312, while Sialkot reached 288 and Bahawalpur 255, placing these cities in the “hazardous” category.

Lahore also continued to struggle with deteriorating air quality. With an AQI of 194, the provincial capital ranked as the fourth most polluted city in the world on Thursday, highlighting the persistent environmental crisis in the region.
