PHOOLNAGAR (Dunya News) – Punjab police seem resolute to crack down on drug pushers in order to purge the province of the menace of drugs.
In their operation against drug peddlers, the city police under SHO Azeem Hafiz carried out an intelligence-based operation and apprehended three drug pushers including a woman with a huge quantity of drugs including Charas, heroin and ice.
The suspected outlaws have been identified as Rani Bibi, Farhan and Riaz. Cases have been registered against them. Further investigation was underway.
Over a dozen suspected drug pushers have so far been killed in two days in alleged police encounters across the province. Killing of robbers in shootouts with police is a common occurrence in Punjab, but deadly ‘encounters’ between police and drug traffickers has not been a frequent happening in recent past, giving an impression that the Punjab CM is committed to rooting out crimes, with police facing criticism for alleged extra-judicial killings.
