(Web Desk) - Former Pakistan cricket captain Moin Khan became the latest victim of irresponsible social media reporting after false news of his death spread rapidly across various platforms on Tuesday.
The confusion began when social media users, in a race to break news first, mistakenly used the picture of 1992 World Cup winner Moin Khan while reporting the death of Hyderabad’s senior cricketer Moin Khan Rajput.
The deceased, 65-year-old Moin Khan Rajput, was a respected former first-class cricketer and captain of Hyderabad’s Mehboob Sports Cricket Club. Meanwhile, former Test captain Moin Khan is alive and well.

Reacting to the situation, Moin Khan released a video message condemning the spread of unverified news. He said the false reports caused him and his loved ones immense distress, adding that he received hundreds of phone calls and messages from concerned well-wishers.
The Quetta Gladiators coach emphasized the responsibility that comes with sharing information online. He urged social media users and news pages to verify facts before publishing anything, warning that such negligence can inflict emotional pain on the individuals involved.
