Population surge poses serious threat, says Attaullah Tarar

Attaullah Tarar pointed out that the situation is worsen by the deficiency of public awareness regarding family planning and population management.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) –The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has expressed deep concern over rapidly increasing population in Pakistan.

Speaking at the Pakistan Population Summit 2025 in Islamabad, the minister said that the issue has reached on an alarming level. The growing population has a significant pressure on the vital sectors including education, health and social services. The demographic burden has also placed a visible strain on limited resources of Pakistan. This strain makes it incredibly difficult for government to ensure sustainable development.

Attaullah Tarar pointed out that the situation is worsen by the deficiency of public awareness regarding family planning and population management. He emphasized that it is important to raise public awareness for addressing the growing challenges of population explosions. He said that if the population continuously grows unchecked, the Pakistan’s development will be badly affected.

He emphasized that every sector of society must play its role to overcome this crisis and a stable trajectory of national development requires a balanced population structure. Tarar highlighted the need to build a dedicated working group to design a comprehensive strategy to handle the growing population’s challenges. He noted that these timely steps are essential for ensuring a sustainable growth and a prosper future for Pakistan.
