(Web Desk) - Huawei has launched its first AI-powered emotional companion pet, Smart Hanhan, during the launch event for the Mate 80 series.
Smart Hanhan, priced at $56 on Huawei Mall, sold out quickly across all three color variants.
Smart Hanhan is crafted as a soft, plush emotional-support companion rather than a traditional entertainment gadget. It measures 80 x 68 x 82 mm and weighs 140 grams without its detachable limbs. The device is built using plush fabric, silicone, plastic components, and embedded electronics to deliver expressive, lifelike responses.
Powered by Huawei’s Xiaoyi large-model AI, Hanhan can engage in natural conversations, respond to emotional signals, and adapt its tone based on user interaction. The companion reacts through voice, touch, and movement. Stroking or tapping its head alters its facial expressions, while shaking the toy prompts cheerful, animated reactions.
Equipped with a 1,800mAh battery, Smart Hanhan offers 6–8 hours of continuous interaction and can last over 48 hours under typical daily use. A full charge requires roughly six hours.
The device operates with HarmonyOS 5.0 or later and pairs seamlessly with models like the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate X7, and Mate 80 RS. When connected to a smartphone, it generates an emotional diary by storing conversations and daily interactions as memory entries. Buyers are also given a three-month SVIP membership that provides unlimited conversation “energy points.”
