PESHAWAR (Dunya News) — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Saturday said that “closed-door decisions have hurt the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
Speaking at a press conference with Provincial Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, Afridi clarified that the land in Tirah, District Khyber, is not his personal property but family-owned. He said attempts to make it an issue were meant to “shift attention.”
Afridi said that due to the provincial government’s performance, his party had been elected three times.
He noted that the tribal districts were merged into KP in 2018, but the province had not received its fair share of funds. “From 2018 to 2025, KP’s share in the NFC Award has not been released,” he added.
He criticised the federal government, saying over 2.5 million people have left Pakistan, and business communities are troubled.
Afridi also mentioned restrictions on PTI founder Imran Khan, saying that since November 4, Khan has been in isolation, unable to meet family members and his personal doctor.
Afridi emphasised that the solutions proposed by his government would restore law and order. He added that despite the declaration of the end of terrorism in 2018, militants have returned, and closed-door decisions have only caused harm to the public. He also stated that the parliamentary party had decided to attend the NFC meeting.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati said that “for lasting peace, the KP government’s advice must be followed.”
He added that Pakistan has various institutions and the army should be seen as the country’s army, not India’s. He noted that members of the assembly, journalists, and businesspeople from across Pakistan attend national forums, where institution heads engage with elected representatives.
