KARACHI (Dunya News) – A protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters outside Karachi Press Club turned tense on Thursday after police detained the party’s Sindh president Haleem Adil Sheikh along with several other activists.
The demonstration, organised in response to what PTI described as repeated refusals to allow jailed founder meetings at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, saw Sheikh arrive at the club alongside senior leaders and a crowd of supporters. Protesters demanded the right to visit their incarcerated leader, but police moved in to disperse the gathering.
Authorities confirmed that those detained, including Sheikh, had been transported to various police stations across Karachi. The arrests follow growing frustration among PTI ranks over restrictions on jail visits.

PTI says the protest was meant to spotlight alleged violations of detainee rights, while the police assert the action was taken under law to maintain public order.
