RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Sri Lanka have pulled off a thrilling six-run victory over Pakistan in Match 6 of the KFC Presents VGO Tel Mobile Tri Nation Series 2025 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, successfully defending their total to confirm a place in Saturday’s final.
Pakistan, already qualified for the title clash, fell just short despite a determined chase in front of an energised crowd.

Batting first after Pakistan won the toss, Sri Lanka posted 184 for five in 20 overs. Mishara led the scoring with a stylish 76 off 48 balls, including key boundary strikes that anchored the innings. Kusal Mendis added 40 from 23 deliveries, while Liyanage remained unbeaten on 24 off 24 balls. Captain Dasun Shanaka contributed 17 from 10 balls.
For Pakistan, Abrar Ahmed claimed two for 28 in his four overs, while Saim Ayub and Salman Mirza took one wicket each.
Pakistan’s chase
In pursuit of 185, Pakistan reached 178 for seven, falling just six runs short. Salman Ali Agha top-scored with a composed 63 off 44 balls, while Umar Khan struck 33 from 23 deliveries. Mohammad Nawaz and Saim Ayub chipped in with 27 runs each, raising hopes in the later stages.
Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera turned the match with figures of four for 20, while Enoka Malinga took two for 54 and Wanindu Hasaranga claimed one for 27.

With this victory, Sri Lanka secured their place in the tri-series final, setting up another clash with Pakistan on Saturday. Rawalpindi will once again be the stage as both teams contest for the 2025 Tri Nation Series title, promising another gripping display of T20 action.
