PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The Peshawar High Court has issued a ruling on a petition against unrelated gatherings in the premises of government and educational institutions.
According to reports, the high court has imposed a ban on political meetings, processions, and other gatherings around government institutions. The ruling states that political gatherings will not be allowed within the premises of educational institutions, government offices, and administrative buildings.
The court further stated that the responsibility for the use of government premises lies with the respective officers, who must ensure that these institutions are not used for political purposes. It noted that government institutions are established for specific purposes, and unrelated gatherings violate their sanctity, making prevention necessary.
The court directed that the heads of educational and other government institutions must ensure that unrelated gatherings are prevented at all costs.
The five-page written judgment was issued by Justice Sahibzada Asadullah.
Earlier, the petitioner’s lawyer argued that holding gatherings in government and educational institutions violates Article 4 of the Constitution and that illegal assemblies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been continuously disrupting government functions and educational activities.
