HANGU (Dunya News) – At least three police officials were martyred in terrorist attack on a police check post in Hangu, a city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, on Wednesday, Dunya News reported.
According to police officials, terrorists targeted the Qazi Talab check post located on Shaho Road in the jurisdiction of City Police Station. During the exchange of fire between the police and the terrorists, three personnel were martyred.
DPO Khanzeb Khan informed that the police officials at the check post bravely confronted the terrorists. He said that it is too early to comment on the terrorists’ casualties.
The bodies of the martyred police officials have been shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital, Hangu.
Condemnations
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack and paid tribute to the martyred personnel, extending condolences to the bereaved families and vowing that their sacrifice would not go in vain.
In a statement on the interior ministry’s X account, Naqvi said these sacrifices reflect Pakistan’s unwavering resolve against terrorism, noting that KP police remain on the front lines of this fight.
KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also strongly condemned the attack, directing authorities to immediately deploy additional personnel to the site.
He stated that terrorists have no religion and such cowardly attacks cannot demoralise the nation, adding that those responsible would be brought to justice and the martyrs’ sacrifices would not go in vain.
The chief minister sought an immediate report from the KP police inspector general and instructed that injured victims be provided prompt medical treatment.
