ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), visited Air Headquarters in Islamabad today for a farewell call.
He was received by Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, in a formal ceremony marked by a Guard of Honour presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Air Force.
During the meeting, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer commended General Sahir Mirza for his exemplary service and pivotal role in strengthening coordination among the three armed services. He highlighted the CJCSC’s significant contributions to national defence and reaffirmed the Pakistan Air Force’s commitment to working closely with the Army and Navy in addressing security challenges, including the ongoing fight against terrorism.

General Sahir Mirza honoured at GHQ as Field Marshal Asim Munir prepares for new defence role
The visit follows General Sahir Mirza’s farewell calls to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, marking the conclusion of his tenure as Pakistan’s 18th and final CJCSC.
With the 27th Constitutional Amendment abolishing the position, this farewell marks the historic transition to the newly created Chief of Defence Forces role.
