PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Security forces conducted a major intelligence-based raid in Lakki Marwat’s Pahaar Khel Pakka area, eliminating 13 terrorists, including two high-profile commanders linked to the Tipu Gul group.

According to the Counter Terrorism Department, the operation was launched following credible and timely intelligence regarding militant movement from Subdivision Bettani towards Pahaar Khel.

Authorities reported that between 20 and 30 terrorists were travelling in small groups towards the area when the joint forces of police and security units initiated a response at approximately 7:30am. During the engagement, heavy firing and shelling targeted the militants’ hideouts, inflicting significant casualties.

Among the 13 terrorists killed were two commanders: Niaz Ali, known as Akasha, and Abdullah, known as Shipankoi. Security forces employed armoured vehicles belonging to Lakki Marwat Police to support ground operations. During post-operation clearance, seven bodies were recovered, while three remained inaccessible due to ongoing firing and proximity to the Bettani mountains.

Inspector General of Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, confirmed that five terrorists were injured and one facilitator was taken into custody. He emphasised that such operations will continue until militant threats are fully dismantled. He added that the safety of citizens remains the police’s foremost priority and praised the exemplary professionalism, bravery and tactical skill displayed by Lakki Marwat Police during the operation.

The IGP further stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are fully prepared to uphold peace and protect lives and property across the province.
