CJ Yahya Afridi stresses timely justice as constitutional duty, reviews judicial reforms progress, highlights major digitisation strides, and orders faster completion of pending tasks.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi said on Thursday that timely justice is both a constitutional responsibility and a moral obligation.

The chief justice made these remarks while chairing the eighth interactive session on judicial reforms, attended by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, the Supreme Court registrar, and other officials.

During the meeting, officials briefed that out of 86 items in the Reform Action Plan, 36 have been completed and work is ongoing on 45. Significant progress has been made in case categorisation and record digitisation.

A total of 126,000 records have been digitised, and the remaining work will be completed within the designated timeframe. It was also decided to collaborate with the Ministry of IT and the Digital Authority for the expansion of e-courts. The session received a detailed briefing on the master plan for the complete digitisation of courts.

Chief Justice Afridi emphasised that transparency and financial discipline are essential for strengthening the judiciary. He reiterated that delivering justice without delay is a constitutional and ethical responsibility, directing all departments to accelerate pending tasks.
