Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz pledges child safety, welfare on World Children's Day

Punjab CM stated that children’s protection in Pakistan is her top priority.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the provincial government is taking all possible measures to eliminate child abuse, heinous crimes against children, and child labor across Punjab.

In a heartfelt message on World Children’s Day, Punjab CM stated that children’s protection in Pakistan is her top priority. “Every child in my Pakistan is my lifeline, my responsibility, and my top priority. Where children are safe, the future shines bright. Punjab’s every step is for the welfare, protection, and happiness of our children. Their health and quality education remain our foremost priority,” CM marked.

She highlighted key initiatives, including the Child Heart Surgery Program, which has saved thousands of lives, and the delivery of insulin kits to children suffering from type-1 diabetes. She also announced the establishment of Pakistan’s first special school for autistic children and the planned launch of the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Early Education in every district to support early childhood development.

The chief minister added that the Virtual Center for child safety is addressing cases of child disappearance, exploitation, and threats using modern systems. She also confirmed a strict crackdown on child labor and criminal activities against children, ensuring that Punjab’s young citizens are protected.

Other initiatives include the South Punjab School Meal Program to combat malnutrition and provide necessary facilities in public schools. Special provisions such as prosthetics, hearing aids, and wheelchairs are being provided to children with disabilities. “No child should feel deprived or neglected. Every child in Punjab will study, stay healthy, and smile—just as a mother never leaves her children alone,” she stressed.
