NCCIA launches probe into Rashid Latif for controversial social media remarks and alleged promotion of gambling apps.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has launched investigations against former Pakistan cricket captain Rashid Latif over two separate complaints related to controversial statements and comments made on social media during a programme.

According to media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board’s Senior Legal Manager officially submitted a request to NCCIA regarding Rashid Latif, stating that he had made a statement on a YouTube program about cricketer Mohammad Rizwan, asking, “If he raises another country’s flag, should he be removed from captaincy?”

In a second request, it was alleged that Rashid Latif had, via his social media account, accused PCB and some associated individuals of promoting gambling apps, claiming that there is “punishment and reward in hiding or showing gambling logos.”

NCCIA officials said Rashid Latif was summoned for both inquiries. He appeared and recorded his initial statements.

Subsequently, the agency served him a questionnaire, which he is expected to submit answers to within the next few days.

Reports said that the investigation would proceed further based on his responses.
