US Congress confirms Pakistan's decisive victory over India

CALIFORNIA (Dunya News) – The US Congress has officially validated Pakistan’s victory over India in the four-day war in May.

In its report, the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission acknowledged that India suffered a severe defeat in the May 7-10 Pakistan-India war, and that Chinese weapons played a decisive role in Pakistan’s success.

According to the report, Pakistan, with the help of Chinese weaponry, shot down French-made Rafale jets.

The US Congress report further states that following Pakistan’s victory, Indonesia cancelled its planned purchase of Rafale aircraft, dealing a blow to the global reputation of the fighter jet.

The report noted that China and Pakistan conducted the three-week Warrior-VIII counterterrorism drills in late 2024, followed by China’s participation in Pakistan’s multinational AMAN naval exercises in February. These engagements, it said, underscored the two countries’ “growing defence cooperation.”

It added that Indian analysts saw the exercises as setbacks in India-China relations and potential security risks to India’s territorial positions.

Discussing the May conflict, the report stated that while calling it a “proxy war” exaggerates China’s role, Beijing did use the situation to showcase and test its advanced weaponry — a move aligned with its border tensions with India and its expanding defence ambitions.

The report further highlighted that China supplied about 82 per cent of Pakistan’s arms imports from 2019 to 2023.

It also noted that the May clash marked the first combat use of China’s modern systems, including the HQ-9 air defence system, PL-15 air-to-air missiles and J-10 fighter jets, effectively turning the conflict into a real-world testing ground.

The Pakistan-India conflict erupted after an attack on tourists in occupied Kashmir, which New Delhi blamed on Pakistan without presenting evidence. Islamabad firmly rejected the accusation and urged an independent investigation.
