ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has introduced Social Protection Wallets for its registered beneficiaries to receive their financial assistance directly into mobile-based digital wallets.
For this purpose, the social safety net has begun distributing free SIMs to as many eligible women. Within the first 24 hours, more than 5,747 free mobile SIMs were issued across over 30 districts. The purpose of this initiative is to ensure transparent, dignified, and direct financial access for women.
The first phase began on 17 November in 41 districts, where all future payments will be made through these SIMs. Eligible women have been instructed to safeguard these SIMs carefully.
The second phase will begin on 24 November in 53 districts. In this phase, at least one camp site will be established in each tehsil. The third phase will start on 1 December in 52 districts, where at least two camp sites will be set up in each tehsil.
Women are required to bring their original identity card and mobile phone. The SIM will be provided only after biometric verification. Eligible women can obtain free SIMs from BISP offices or designated camp sites until 31 December. After the SIM is issued, BISP will activate the Social Protection Wallet on it. Once the wallet is activated, the risk of fraud or human intervention will be reduced.
