MULTAN (Dunya News) – A sessions court in Multan has issued a major verdict in the high-profile Sania Zahra murder case, sentencing the prime accused, her husband Ali Raza, to death.

The ruling was handed down by Additional Sessions Judge Mohsin Ali Khan. The court also awarded life imprisonment to two other family members – the victim’s brother-in-law, Haider Raza, and mother-in-law, Azra Parveen.

Ali Raza, the key accused, was presented in court in handcuffs under police custody. Meanwhile, three other defendants were acquitted, including the victim's father-in-law, Jeevan Shah, sister-in-law, Dua Zahra, and former wife of Ali Raza, Madiha.

The case was pursued by complainant’s counsels, Shehryar Ahsan and Mian Rizwan Sattar, who presented final arguments. The defence was represented by advocate Ziaur Rehman Randhawa, while Deputy Prosecutor Mian Bilal Naeem appeared on behalf of the prosecution.

The tragic incident dates back to 9 July 2024, when the body of Sania Zahra was found hanging in a room at her in-laws’ residence in Multan. Following the discovery, a case was registered at New Multan Police Station, naming six suspects, including her husband, brother-in-law and mother-in-law. The murder case was lodged on the complaint of her father, Asad Abbas Shah.
