ECP announces Senate general seat election schedule for Punjab after Irfan ul Haq Siddiqui's demise

The Election Commission of Pakistan schedules polling for Punjab’s vacant Senate general seat on December 9, with nomination submissions on November 20-21 and scrutiny on November 25.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule for the Senate general seat election in Punjab.

According to the ECP spokesperson, polling for the vacant seat will be held on December 9, following the death of Senator Irfan Siddiqui.

The spokesperson for the Punjab Election Commissioner stated that candidates can submit their nomination papers on November 20 and 21, while scrutiny of the nominations will take place on November 25. Appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed until November 27.

Polling for the Senate general seat will be conducted at the Punjab Provincial Assembly building from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with members of the provincial assembly voting to elect the new senator.

It is notable that PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui passed away on November 11, creating the vacancy for this Senate seat.
