LAHORE (Dunya News) – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that no passenger who brings disgrace to the country will be allowed to travel, and that illegal immigration will not be tolerated.
Naqvi, accompanied by Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain, paid a surprise visit to Lahore Airport, which lasted for two hours.
Naqvi expressed strong displeasure upon seeing the crowd and slow processing at the immigration counters, and instructed the staff to complete the process quickly. Both ministers spoke with passengers traveling abroad and asked them about the immigration process.
Minister Salik inspected protector stickers on travel documents.
Under the protector regulations, a young man traveling abroad for a driver’s job was stopped from traveling because he did not have a driving license. Salik expressed anger over this and ordered an immediate inquiry.
The immigration staff stopped a passenger who was travelling abroad with the alleged collusion of an FIA official. The off-loaded passenger was assured that the money he had paid to a private company would be returned.
Naqvi called in the immigration officers who had stopped both passengers, not only praised them but also rewarded them from his own pocket. He announced that they would be given commendation certificates.
He said that no passenger should be allowed to travel without necessary documents. “Illegal immigration will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Any passenger who brings disrepute to the country will not be permitted to travel. Strict action will be taken against any officials involved, including those from the FIA,” he added.
Salik said that the relevant employment documents of passengers traveling under the protector system must be verified in every case.
