Addresses COP30 conference in Brazil virtually, says Pakistan joining the ranks of emerging economies

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the issue of climate challenges is linked to Pakistan's survival, and that it should seek technical assistance from international organisations along with financial assistance.

While addressing the ongoing COP30 conference in Brazil virtually, Muhammad Aurangzeb said that Pakistan is rapidly joining the ranks of emerging economies, however, the country is facing issues like climate challenges and steps are being taken to address them.

He said that coordinated global cooperation is necessary to eliminate the negative effects of climate change.

Pakistan has many expectations from green climate funds and obstacles to their utilization must be removed. Pakistan has also issued a green sukuk bond to deal with climate change at the domestic level, the minister added.

He added that Pakistan seeks financial as well as technical assistance from international organisations to address environmental challenges.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb said that all countries are trying to deal with climate change and this issue is linked to the survival of Pakistan.
