ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has convened meeting of the party Majlis-e-Shura on November 23 to take stock of post-27th Constitutional Amendment situation in the country.
The Shura has been called to consider the impact of the 27th Constitutional Amendment and other legislation. The meeting will also discuss the registration of seminaries and the government's attitude. The participants will discuss the country's political situation and decide on a future course of action.
The JUI-F had opposed the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Maulana Fazlur Rehman had left Karachi for Dubai on a private airline, and from there he had gone to Bangladesh.
He attended the International Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (PBUH) Conference in Bangladesh, which had invited religious scholars and spiritual leaders from around the world.
Speaking to the media before his departure, he had said that the government violated its commitment by including points from the 26th Amendment, which had previously been removed, into the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
