Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan issues first order as Federal Constitutional Court begins work

Pakistan’s newly established Federal Constitutional Court began its formal work as Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan issued his first appointments and judges took oath at an official ceremony in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan of the Federal Constitutional Court has issued his first official order following the court’s establishment.

He appointed former District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Hafeez as Registrar of the Federal Constitutional Court, marking the court’s initial administrative structuring. According to sources, Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan also appointed Mazhar Bhatti as Secretary to the Chief Justice.

Earlier in the day, the first Chief Justice of the newly formed Federal Constitutional Court, along with three judges, took oath of office. President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath to Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan at a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, senior officials of the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy, and other dignitaries.

In the second phase of the ceremony, three judges of the Federal Constitutional Court took their oaths. Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan administered the oath to Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Ali Baqar Najafi.

Sources confirmed that Justice KK Agha is scheduled to take oath as judge of the Federal Constitutional Court tomorrow. Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan will administer the oath at a ceremony to be held at the Islamabad High Court.
