QUETTA (Dunya News) – The Balochistan government has suspended internet services across most areas, including Quetta, for three days due to potential terrorist threats.
The decision was made as part of heightened security measures aimed at preventing terrorism in the region.
Additionally, public transportation from Quetta to Punjab has been temporarily halted, and educational institutions within the cantonment areas have been closed for the same period.
However, schools and universities in Quetta city and other areas of the province remain open.
The suspension of internet services and transport has caused significant disruptions for businesses, students, and travelers, creating challenges for many residents.
The Balochistan government has enforced these measures following recent attacks in Wana Cadet College and the District Courts in Islamabad, prompting the government to tighten security across the province.
Earlier, a notification was issued to ban passenger coaches and public transport from Quetta to other provinces between November 12 and 14.
However, within hours, the notification was rescinded by the Secretary of the Transport Department, Hayat Khan Kakar. Despite the cancellation, a new directive was issued later, imposing restrictions on passenger coaches traveling from Quetta to Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other regions via Loralai and Zhob.
